Being totally honest, I can't say it was easy for us taking Kennedy to daycare today for the first time, nor did it feel normal. Sure I've been a true parent for the last 3 months, but today was the first day I felt like "dad." Amy was excited to go back to work, but not real excited about not hanging out with Kennedy throughout the day. Prime definition of bitter sweet you could say.
After staff meeting I went to my office to begin where I left off. No sooner did I sit down and I got my first daycare call. They wanted to know if we had any gas relief medication because Kennedy was gassy and crying. Come to think of it, that's kind of a funny call for my first parent call. Typical Neely / Miller family I guess! So I did my parental thing and ran across the street, got the gas relief, went to the room, gave Kennedy her medicine, and went on my way. The blessing of living across the street and working in the same building as our daycare. However, I wasn't expecting my first parental call on the first day, or the reason being, "Mr. Neely, Kennedy is gassy and needs help." It was truly the first day I felt like the big DAD for sure!
After bringing her home from her first day at "school," she was sooo tired! I put her in the crib and she was out in less than a minute. This is the picture I took. Until another day...
