Little Dancer

First Friday Festival of Lights!

One perk with living downtown is that we get to enjoy a little Christmas party at the house and then walk downtown for the annual Festival of Lights!

Oh Christmas Tree!

We ended up having to take an early detour on our way back to Greensboro after spending time up in Dayton for Thanksgiving.  Good thing, too!  We ran into a few tree farms along the way!  No time like the present to get a Christmas tree, eh?

A little late post. Better late than never.

8th Anniversary

8 years ago today I married this girl. Marriage is definitely another form of homebrewed art! At times it's like a ballet performance danced with precision. Other times it's like a comic book - especially when kids are involved. Marriage can also be compared to a Jackson Pollick abstract painting with emotionally filled swirls and splatters. But in the end, it's a large canvas without a frame - never finished. At any given time the painting can be wiped clean with a thick stroke of pure white Geso making room for a whole new creative journey to begin. Marriage should continually change and adapt for the better.

Now I'm off to the store to buy an anniversary card before I forget. I never said marriage was perfect.

Happy Birthday, Mommy!

Yesterday the kids and I went to the grocery store together without Amy.  I gave them the freedom to choose any birthday card they wanted to get and choose any food they wanted to cook for Amy's birthday.  So this evening, Kennedy and Miles cooked for Mommy!  The appetizer was Hebrew Nationals Beef Franks in a Blanket with a flower decorating each plate and we had tacos for the main dish.  The grand finale was a large cookie cake that Miles and Kennedy decorated themselves.  A little heartburn, but a fun night! Happy Birthday!!

Goodbye girl!

Said goodbye to sweet Solo this afternoon.  She was way too young, but gave us so much love and memories.  Missing her a lot tonight.  Love you.

Playing Soccer Again!

A post to remember when looking back...

For the past 15 years I've been coaching goalkeepers at the high school level.  This past March I laced up the soccer boots one last time and tried out for Greensboro's semi-professional / professional team the Gate City Generals.  In the end, after months of training with the team, I made the final roster.  Sadly, I gained a nasty, high grade ankle injury during tryouts...popped 3 times.  So I haven't been able to play in any games up until this point.  I'm hoping to play in my first game in a week.

Class Awards!

This morning was Kennedy's class awards program.  Kennedy got the an award certificate for Outstanding Achievement in Music!  Proud of this girl!
