Grocery Store Epiphany

Going to the grocery store by myself with Kennedy and Miles is like herding cattle in a fine china shop that also sells toys and candy!  While I tend to lean toward getting groceries on my own, at times it just doesn't work - hence my epiphany moment! To keep Kennedy focussed, I came up with this style of a grocery list.  Kennedy can't fully read yet, but she understands numbers and images.  I was able to give her ownership in task at hand.  Worked brilliantly!!  Now if I could only avoid the checkout line of candy, gum and chocolate, then all would be perfect!

Conversation on the way to school...

Kennedy:  
I'm going to marry Evan now.  Not Zachary.  Zachary and Evan will probably get mad at each other.  If they do, I will say to them "Hey, don't get mad and calm down!"

Daddy:  
Ok, but you're not getting married for a long time.  You have a lot to do before then."

Kennedy:  
I know.  Because when I grow up I'm going to be a police officer, a doctor, a farmer, and a dump truck driver - and I'm going to live in a skyscraper."

Daddy:
Ok (with raised eyebrows and short grin)
